My Time In The Affair (standalone)
by Stylo Fantôme
Genre: Contemporary Romance
I made a conscious decision to cheat on my husband.
Now, before you judge me, hear my story. Hear how much I'm like you, how similar my thoughts are to your own. Yes, I'm a horrible person. Yes, I've done horrible things. Yes, I don't deserve forgiveness. Yes, bad things happened because of my actions.
But I'm willing to bet I've done things that maybe, just maybe, you have thought of doing.
Maybe, just maybe, you're not as innocent as you'd like to think.
Or maybe I'm not so guilty ...
[[***WARNING: This book involves CHEATING. The word AFFAIR is in the title. The main character has an AFFAIR. In the synopsis (directly above), she states that she intentionally has an AFFAIR. If you don't like CHEATING, then you have been VERY WELL warned. Also, this book is primarily written in the third-person narrative.]]

Don't forget us, he'd asked her. She wouldn't.
Remember me, he'd told her. She always wouldn't.
You've seen probably my posts on Facebook and know how much I adored this book. I plastered it with juicy and emotional quotes, yet I know many of you're torn whether to read this book or not. Cheating, one of the biggest pet-peeves for readers in books - I get that. It sucks, whether it happens in fiction or real life; it hurts to read/imagine what the other person must feel, getting his/her heart ripped out. You're probably nodding your head like crazy, agreeing with what I'm saying, but hear me out. If you're like me - open to get to know both sides of a story, not shying away to dive into taboos - then I'd say give this book definitely a chance! It's WAY MORE than just an affair book about a woman who's fed up with her husband.
She took a breath. Nodded. "Yes."
"Before you go," he began, his voice full of emotion....
"I want you to know something."
"Please, don't say anything."
"I have to."
"It'll make it worse."
"It's already as bad as it can be."
"You're one of the best things that's ever happened to me, Mischa. I'm glad I found you."
She took a deep breath. "Me, too."
Sighs.... I fell fast for Tal. He's mysterious, gorgeous and screams sex appeal. I can totally understand why Mischa felt this instant pull to him. He was everything she could have asked for and more. He fulfilled her desires in ways she herself didn't know craved them. He consumed not only her body, but slowly her mind and eventually her heart.
When agreeing to go with her boss overseas, branching out, she planned to cheat on her husband. Her marriage is a disaster, by disaster I mean she's unhappy, she feels unsatisfied, neglected, taken for granted - sounds familiar? Well, after 8 years, Mischa has had enough talking to a wall. Her husband, or best friend, wouldn't listen, he belittled her and she was suffocating and Italy sounded like the perfect escape plan.
It's easy to make plans but to go through with it is another thing. After figuring out she can't cheat on her husband, that she can't be such a horrible person, he found her. She was literally his target, mysterious Tal, who somehow always knew where to find her.
"Anything," she whispered.
"I never want you to forget what this feels like," he told her.
"I won't," she promised.
"When I'm gone, I want you to remember. When you touch yourself, I want you to always think of me," his voice was as slow and soft as his thrusts.
"I will," she assured him.
"I want to be the only one you think of," he whispered.
"You already are."
What I loved about this book was that I could live through Mischa's struggle to accept her unhappiness, she knew she'll crush her husband's heart, even her own. But she also realized that she is not happy, she's not this person anymore. She wants and needs more and maybe, just maybe it was a mistake to marry your best friend. Tal helped her to find herself, both seemed to found something they didn't know they were looking for.
Tal.... he captivated me because he was until 70% a total question mark to me. I had no idea what his plan was, why he knew so much about her; so secretive yet so open when it came to expressing his feelings to Mischa. Stylo did a fantastic job keeping me as reader hooked on the book, making it more than just another affair book.
Take a chance on his book, you won't regret it. Stylo slowly but surely moves up to being one of my favorite authors out there. Her writing style is addive and versatile, just as her characters. Her stories are all over the place and I frigging love; she seems to offer it all: dark, edgy, forbidden, action-packed, steamy. If you'd ask me for recommendations, she's definitely under my top five authors for you to check out! I see great things happening for her - an author to look out for, indeed.
"Maybe this is how it needs to be, Misch. For what it's worth, you were the best mission I ever had. "
