Review: Manwhore+1 by Katy Evans

Manwhore + 1 (Manwhore Series, #2)
by Katy Evans
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Billionaire playboy? Check.
Ruthless businessman? Check
Absolutely sinful? Check.

Malcolm Saint was an assignment. A story. A beautiful, difficult man I was supposed to uncover for a racy exposé.

I intended to reveal him, his secrets, his lifestyle--not let him reveal me. But my head was overtaken by my heart and suddenly nothing could stop me from falling. I fell for him, and I fell hard.

Malcolm Saint is absolute Sin, and I've become a hopeless Sinner.

Now that the assignment is over, Saint wants something from me--something unexpected--and I want this wicked playboy's heart. But how can I prove to the man who trusts no one that I'm worthy of becoming his plus one?

"Do you know what I'd do for you?" A huskiness enters his voice as he circles my chin with his thumb.
"You're the only heaven I will ever know, Rachel" - he looks into my eyes - "and if you were a hell, I'd sin my whole life just to stay with you."

THIS.RIGHT.THERE ....sighs! Katy indeed knows how to create swoon-worthy characters. Malcolm shot himself right onto my favorite book boyfriend shelf. I love his quirks that everything needs to be in fours. I love his determination. His ambition. That he's a go-getter and ever so hungry reaching new goals/limits.

In Manwhore+1 we find out if Rachel gets her HEA after exposing her short-term relationship with Chicago's hottest bachelor.

She publicity humiliated him. So she thought.
She lost his trust and loyalty. So she thought.
She thought she lost him entirely. Until he proofed her wrong.

I've to say Saint made it really easy for Rachel but I was happy for her. After he didn't talk to her for four weeks both were miserable; their friends didn't know what to do. Both felt they lost a piece of themselves. So of course things needed to change!

It was unmistakably obvious that these two were meant to be together and yes they had to gain each others trust back but it was most of the time a smooth ride. Rachel didn't need to fight hard to get him back. The sequel had no real dramatics in it - not that I did mind - and it was quite a steady read with a predictable ending.

What made this book, this series worth reading was Malcolm himself. I adored him: he made me smile, laugh, swoon and I've to admit, even day dream a bit. He's painfully gorgeous and Katy knows how to create a man - I've to give her that.

What the series was lacking on were the patches in between; some were dragging and it really didn't hold my interest, but then Sin said stuff like this, which made me sigh and wish I could trade places with Rachel:
"I want to be that guy you can't ever take out of your head, Rachel. The one you've been waiting for. I want you to have eyes just for me and smile just for me and a tone of voice only I will hear."

Well, he got his wishes granted  - and we all got our HEA :)
Overall this is a good series, not too heavy on dramatics, fair amount on steam and a lovable main character (I somehow end up liking Katy's female book characters always less lol)
