Review + Giveaway: Racing the Sun by Karina Halle

Racing the Sun (standalone)
by Karina Halle
Genre: Contemporary Romance

It’s time for twenty-four-year-old Amber MacLean to face the music. After a frivolous six months of backpacking through New Zealand, Australia, and Southeast Asia, she finds herself broke on the Mediterranean without enough money for a plane ticket home to California. There are worse places to be stuck than the gorgeous coastline of southern Italy, but the only job she manages to secure involves teaching English to two of the brattiest children she’s ever met.

It doesn’t help that the children are under the care of their brooding older brother, Italian ex-motorcycle racer Desiderio Larosa. Darkly handsome and oh-so-mysterious, Derio tests Amber’s patience and will at every turn—not to mention her hormones.

But when her position as teacher turns into one as full-time nanny at the crumbling old villa, Amber finds herself growing closer to the enigmatic recluse and soon has to choose between the safety of her life back in the States and the uncertainty of Derio’s closely guarded heart.

"I need to kiss you," he says, and it's the smartest thing he's said all day. "Please." .... His lips are just out of reach. "I need to know if I can feel anything. I want to feel something."

Love, love, loved this book! With Racing the Sun Karina Halle created another beautiful romance that not only makes you want to pack up your bags and explore a foreign country but also to experience a passionate meant-to-be love for yourself. Karina knows how to write a realistic romance that makes you crave to get swept off your feet by your very own Italian Stallion - just as she did with the Spaniard, Mateo, in Love, in English.

You can't but fall in love with her vivid style of writing, creating the perfect scenery and set up for two people to find each other in order to experience the love of their lives.

"I can help you, you know," he says so sincerely I feel I have no choice but to believe him.
"What are you talking about?"
"facing your fears. Even the little ones can cripple us."

Even though their fears couldn't be more different these two are the much needed rock in each others life; while Derio lost everything in a tragic accident, Amber is lost finding her purpose in life, her calling. She feels helpless and useless - just like her father told her. She finds purpose when running out of money in Capri. In order to buy a return ticket to the States she accepts a job, agreeing to teach two Italian twins English.... so she thought.

She didn't expect to fall head over heels for "this bronzed, dark-eyed, Italian sex machine" ....neither did he or that this little American lioness would turn his life upside down, giving it  purpose and meaning again.

"Without you, I am nothing."

This book did it for me. I loved it. It was simple, yet beautiful and extraordinary. I loved that it made me feel....it made me feel for and about the characters. It made me believe.

It felt real and that's what I enjoy in romance; I could relate. If you like a romance set in one of the worlds most gorgeous regions, with a man that screams pure passion, and a HEA that makes your face break out into a big grin at the end then snatch this book.
It's the perfect summer read, sipping a glass of win and eating bruschetta, while daydreaming to be far away on a beautiful island called Capri .....with your very own version of Derio ;)
