"You seem in a fine mood."
"I'm wearing new clothes, new boots, a new jacket." She felt jauntier, younger.
"Do you really think it's clothes that are affecting you so - or the three orgasms you enjoyed today."
(...)she tapped her chin as if pondering his question, then answered, "No, it's definitely the clothes," making him scowl.

So this is my fifth IAD book I've read - no I inhaled it - and I can honestly say next to Sebastian, Cade is my second favorite character so far. I loved this exquisite demon; he was funny - seriously he cracked me up - handsome, and caring. A total catch!

Since 900 years he's living in the shadows of his brother, the King, especially after he's basically the reason why his brother lost his kingdom. Cade is carrying a lot of burden on his shoulders, then when he thought it couldn't get worse, he found his fated mate just to realize she's a bloody mortal. It's forbidden for the Lore creatures to mix with mortals, plus they wouldn't survive the mating anyways. So what did Cade do, besides drinking down his distress, he played creeper and watched Holly from afar.

Holly, a lil OCD and math geek, has no idea that when she goes to her late night teaching class that I'd be her last time and her world is about to shift. She's the Vessel and an evil sorcerer wants her to breed an evil offspring, in exchange he would give Cade and his brother a sword that would kill their biggest enemy in order to get the kingdom back. Too bad that Holly, Cade's mate, is his next job.

"I do have fun!"
"You wouldn't know fun if it bit you on the ass."
Her chin jutted up. "You think I'm a goody two-shoes, a prude."
"I was going to say preachy tight-ass. But prude might fit."

These two couldn't be any more different and I think that was what made the story so likable. It had definitely less action or steamy scenes as the previous books in it but Cade and Holly's character made up for it. I didn't envy him, he was sitting between two crappy chairs and no matter how he'd have hurt either Holly or his brother; hence the 900 years he for once put his brother first. Needless to say it didn't sit well with Holly. But this lil math geek turned into quite a Valkyrie and kicked some serious butt.

If you enjoyed the previous books in the series you'll like this one too!
