REVIEW: Her Master's Courtesan by Lily White

I am a Master.
You must know this fact to understand my story.
I capture women.
I break them down.
And I rebuild them.
If they are lucky, they are sold into the professional hands of another Master. If they are less fortunate, they are buried beneath the ground, never to be thought of again.
I lust for the control, I demand absolute submission and my body yearns to warp the minds of those I train.
Power is the only thing I’ll ever need and I am addicted to the feeling of ultimate control.
I am wealthy, good-looking, educated and charming.
And I am - in no way - a good man.
I do not want love.
I do not want kindness.
She thought she could change me by giving me the two things I knew I never wanted.
She was wrong.

4.5 Mind-f**king Stars

I still have problems to wrap my mind around this book. Was it dark? F**k yes it was! Did it disgust me? Damn right it too! I doubted my own sanity while reading it. Aiden, oh my Aiden what a twisted f**k you are; you’re a genius in manipulating the women around you and still continuing to strip them from everything they once knew. He’s cruel and yes sadistic.

He made my stomach sick by how he treated women; how he made them feel like pets (his nickname for them) , treated them like an object, being nothing more than just there to fulfill a man’s desire and wishes. He truly pissed me off – I can’t deny it or sugar talk the fact that I distasted him a lot! He toyed with the lives he took. He made them second guess and doubt their sanity:

“He’d taken my freedom, my choice and my life without my permission and then asked me to appreciate him for food and a roof over my head?”

Yeah you’ve read correctly he’s that kind of twisted – he’s a true Master, trained by the best and currently the best in his field.
His point of view what women are made for made me want to punch and choke the living shit out of him.
“Every woman wants to be a whore. They want to spread their legs for a man – to be taken …”
“Your right to anything and everything has been stripped – your thoughts, your emotions, your choice, and possible even your life – none of those are yours any longer.”
“You don’t have to pretend to be prim and proper anymore because of morality or society expectations –you can be the whore you were designed to be.” à this made me grunt out in distaste and hatred. He’s just so full of himself but to the same time brutally honest never hiding who he truly is.
He doesn’t do love, want love, or kindness. He wants money and fulfilling his needs. Control is what he wants, needs and gets from.
But let’s strip all this aside for now –I know it’s hard but stay with me ok – and focus on the main purpose of this book.

Did it succeed to be a very dark book? Oh hell yes. Lily created a piece of mindf**k that made me sick to the stomach but also put me in awe of what she created. Her character is evil but a master in his mind. He’s smart and his cards well and precise. I can’t even write an awesome review but you have to experience it for yourself! The epilogue totally threw me off and I literally gave up understanding Aiden or I totally understood then: HE’LL NEVER CHANGE!
He molded Rebecca in such a way that I thought she’s lost her mind and indeed she did. There’s no other way in explaining it. She has several screws loose too and I feel pity for her and in her state of oblivion. She’s somewhat this naïve girl who believes and sees more in Aiden – but there’s NOTHING ELSE!
Oh my…the mind is such a manipulating tool and she’s just a victim but doesn’t see it or refuses to acknowledge it.
You think The Dark Duet was cruel, dark and disturbing?? HMC is way worse and I don’t recommend it if you’re looking for a HEA or that they ride into the sunset on his white horse. It’s twisted. It messes with you and your mind. It’s just cruel.
I can’t answer you by telling if I liked, loved or hated it – somewhat all 3 things apply when thinking about the book.

If you’re ok and fully aware that this is a very dark book, reaching into the depth of destroying a person, rebuilding their broken pieces, getting humiliated, punished, and reduced to the lowest form of human life then go and read this book!
“She was a decoration, not a person, or a heart or a soul – a thing. A thing that is owned wholly, a thing that has no say in what happens to it or who owns it.”
I don’t regret it at all. Yes I was shocked and hated what Aiden did –manipulating, hurting, and degrading women – and I’m still shaking my head over Rebecca’s action, word, and behavior but putting all this aside the book succeed to royally mind f**k me.
Will I read book two in this series?? Yes I’ll because I’m nuts and curious as hell.
I hope my review made some sense but my mind is still a clusterf**k of its own.
