5 Mind Blowing Stars

Dear Pepper, not a lot of books keep me up till effing 4:30am in the morning, but you my dear and your kick ass debut novel made me want to keep going and going; it made me forget the rest around me. Sleep? Wth is that…don’t need it…not now…need to, want to, have to finish this book. Yeah that was exactly me last night.

Tears of Tess…darkness, thrill, angst, hot, passion, brutal, desires, love…. Those are the first words that would come to my mind when I had to describe the book. It was loaded; it was dangerous; it was scary; it was hot; overall, it was what I needed and it was filled with everything I love in a book. Pepper already hooked me on the very first pages because her writing style flows. I never had a stop in between, had no doubts, no confusions. Her story line holds many hidden twists and turns which gave me the feeling someone is holding me by my throat, slowly squeezing it… I forgot to breathe, because I was so mesmerized by the story and its character that it made my pulse race and my heart beat so loud and fast that I thought it'd pop out of my chest. Tears of Tess is anything but predictable, trust me; it took me long enough to put the pieces together and when I did, it was like a BAM – I was a goner, seriously. I fell for the darkness. A boring moment? Ha don't even think about it; boring didn't exist in the book.

Perfect vacation… boyfriend surprises his girlfriend with a vacation to spend some lovely days together in Cancun, Mexico. Reconnecting and spending some hot nights together. Sounds like true paradise right? Yeah this paradise lasted exactly 2 days and turned into the biggest nightmare ever cause Tess ends up being kidnapped, beaten, and alone somewhere in Mexico. Angst is her daily companion but Tess is a fighter and before she crumbles, before they, her capturer, could break her, she would fight; and she did. I admired her for that. She was a tough cookie.

"This was my new future. Fate threw me to the bastards of Hades."

As if this hellhole wasn’t bad enough, being captured for 2 weeks, she heard the worst three words ever… “You are sold” … sold as in becoming a slave…a slave, a freaking slave. She would have a master. A master that could and would do anything he wants with her. That she was scared would be an understatement but she had no choice; her kidnappers took her and flew her into the unknown. All she knew she's flying to her new master.

Q, he is the definition of bad, forbidden, brutal; but also passion, desire and loyal. Q’s character was my very favorite in the book. I wanted to hate his guts, and he did things that made me want to pull the trigger…but he cracked me… his whole personality is so complex in the book that he cracked me wide open and I was a goner. Pepper, she wrote a perfect character that leaves you speculating until the very last end…He is closed off; has so many secrets which are hidden beneath his surface. But he also screams passion, love, and everything Tess could or would need. But Q couldn’t, wouldn’t, didn’t…

“Q stole my hopes and dreams, replacing my feelings with blackness and emptiness. I was broken.”

You want and will hate him at some point in the book, but remember, he’s more than what meets the eye. He’s perfectly twisted that makes your heart ache but also makes you in the same time screaming, wanting for more...more of him.

"A human is adaptable. A human heart is not."

And OMG the songs in the book, they captured me and I read them twice, even three times –I loved them:
Your memory won’t leave my head
Haunting me, hunting me, driving me crazy,
I wish I were dead
Every time I close my eyes, you’re there,
Ready to suck me into dark desires
Reality is where I no longer want to be,
My dreams are my salvation
I will cut you out, chop you up, break every bone on my body
If only it meant peace from your dark melody
This book was already brilliant, but then what did Pepper do then, she added an EPIC epilogue to it… yeah she totally pulled it off. I loved the epilogue. It made me angry, sad, happy and excited. I’m so looking forward reading book two because I know it’ll just blow my mind as well.

Don’t think you’ll have figured the book out, because you won’t…it’ll rattle your thoughts over and over again, leaving you to want more, finding out more just to better understand this twisted perfection Pepper created. I’m in awe of her and not many books end up in my all-time-favorite shelf, but this books truly will.

I can't write more cause I want to avoid spoilers and it was already hard to not slip some infos. But I can promise, you will enjoy and/or even love this book, it holds surprises.
