BLOG TOUR: Hard Rock Roots

Book #1
Real Ugly

Turner Campbell is an asshole.

I f*cking hate him.

But I can't get enough either.

He sings like an angel and f*cks like a devil.

If I could, I'd run away and never look back because to tell you the truth, I think this man

might be the death of me.

Naomi Knox is a bitch.

I can't f*cking stand her.

But I can't stop thinking about her either.

She looks like an angel and plays like a devil.

If I could, I'd f*ck her good and forget all about her, but to tell you the truth, I think this

woman might be my last saving grace.

Book #2
Get Bent

Naomi Knox is missing.

I don't even f*cking know whether she's dead or alive.

What I do know is that she's the air I need to breathe.

She's my redemption, an all consuming fire that burns in my blood.

And I'll do anything to find her. Anything. Even if means the end for me.

& & &

Turner Campbell is searching.

But he has no f*cking clue what it is he's searching for.

There's darkness all around and enough secrets to choke.

There are angels, and there are devils. It's impossible to tell them apart.

Light needs to be shone on the truth, but there's no one left to hold the torch. The line

between life and death is blurred, and the players are all thoroughly entrenched in the

game. The question is: am I still one of them?

Real Ugly

3.5 Rock Star Stars

"My birth parents, whoever the shit they were, fucked me; my adoptive parents screwed me; the foster system destroyed me. And Turner? He was just the icing on the friggin' cake, baby."

Calling Naomi's life messed up would be the understatement of the year. All the sh!t that happened in her life made her close up - she's cold, stopped loving herself or others, and isn't afraid about anything and stands her ground. The only emotion she's having is hate; hate toward one person. The person she used to look up to, the person she admired and loved, the person that saved her once - Turner. But even he let her down and hurt her; hurt her so deeply that hate is the only emotion she's willing to allow.

Naomi and Turner share one love, one passion, and that's music. Both are in rock bands; while Turner is the lead singer in his band, Naomi prefers to stay in the backgroud as guitarist. As it wouldn't be enough to constantly hear Turner's band in the news and radio -his voice a reminder about their painful past- now Naomi's band is on tour with his - for damn long 6 months. She's determined not to beg down when she sees Turner;  Turner who probably doesn't even remember her or what happened 6 yrs ago. But Noami does and Turner sooner than later finds out why Noami is the only person that doesn't show him repsect.

Turner is a born rock star: sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. He's full of tattoos and just yummy to look at. Every night after his gigs he has another chick. He doesn't care and just enjoys his life. Yeah he's sexy and he knows it - his arrogance pisses off a lot of people, including Naomi! But when Turner wakes up after a trashed night, not knowing where he is and tries to go back to his own tour bus he notices someone sleeping... Naomi. She's beautiful but soon Turner learns that she's unlike any other chick and she's every right to hate... But Turner wouldn't be Turner if he gives up sooo easily.

I've to say I was very eager to read Real Ugly and liked it a lot, but didn't love it though. The story is very confusing at the beginning cause the author mentions many side characters and at a certain point I got lost. A bit more introductions would have been nice but I caught up on them eventually. Throughout the story I could feel the confusing mess that Naomi is, why she hated him so bad but also I got a bit irritated that she was sooo over the top. I mean, yeah you can hate someone but for christ's sake, he had no idea and sometimes she just annoyed me with her behavior...Also, Naomi was a bit too violent for me as a woman, Turner didn't deserve everything she did. In general, I noticed the frustration in her, she was mad against everything and everyone and I felt sorry for her.

I liked that this book was written in dual POV, I love being in a guys head, and enjoyed Turner's POV a lot better. Sometimes the writing was a bit off so that's also a the reason for my rating. But oh my, this book ended with a MAJOR cliffhanger and I'll def read Get Bent - DYING TO KNOW HOW IT CONTINUES.

I do recommend this book if you don't mind sexual contents and harsh language. It's def a 18+ book.

About the Author

C.M. Stunich was raised under a cover of fog in the area known simply as Eureka, CA. A mysterious place, this strange, arboreal land nursed Caitlin's (yes, that's her name!) desire to write strange fiction novels about wicked monsters, magical trains, and Nemean Lions (Google it!). She currently enjoys drag queens, having too many cats, and tribal bellydance.

Always a fan of the indie scene and 'sticking it to the man,' Ms. Stunich decided to take the road less traveled and forgo the traditional publishing route. You can be assured though that she received several rejections as to ensure her proper place in the world of writers before taking up a friend's offer to start a publishing company. Sarian Royal was born, and Ms. Stunich's books slowly transformed from mere baking chocolate to full blown tortes with hand sculpted fondant flowers.

C.M. is a writer obsessed with delivering the very best and scours her mind on a regularbasis to select the most unusual stories for the outside world.
