REVIEW: Scars and Songs by Christine Zolendz

Nadine recently read Scars and Songs and has declared this series one of her top favourite angel series ever.  She has hooked me into adding another book to my TBR list!!  I have read the other two in this series but wasn't quite sure about this one because I am not always a fan of re-reading a book from another POV but she has convinced me to read it now.

Synopsis

Shane Maxton is front man for New York City’s popular rock band, Mad World.
But he has secrets; he’s not what everybody thinks he is.
He comes from an ancient world, from a different time, when angels walked among men.
Read the story, through Shane’s eyes, of his forbidden love, his fall from grace and his inner turmoil from living with the irrational emotions of being human.

Disclaimer #1: This is the story of Mad World Books 1 & 2, Fall From Grace and Saving Grace, written through the point of view of Shane Maxton.
IT IS THE SAME Love STORY of Grace and Shane. It’s just Shane’s turn to tell it to you, it’s everything you’ve read before and a whole lot more.
Disclaimer #2: This story contains rock and roll, angels doing naughty things, violence, cursing, drinking alcohol, substance abuse, sexual situations, and irritating scenes that will make you want to hurl your eReader or book out the window. It’s not suitable for anyone under the age of 18.

Nadine's Review

5 Awesome Stars

I was waiting soooo long for this book and now that I've read it I'm sad it's over. Yes, I love, love, loved it.

Scars and Songs is written in Shane's POV and I truly enjoyed reading it. I could feel his emotions througout the story and was touched. His joy, pain, concerns,...just every emotion reflected  right back to me and I was amazed.

I kissed her slowly, reverently, and I knew without any loss in faith that nothing would ever compare to that single moment when I first kissed my Selah, and knew that my love for her would last beyond what forever was.

I whispered my last words to her,"You have my heart, forever."

The story touches on mostly all important scenes from book 1 & 2 and it was interesting to read Shane's thoughts, knowing how clueless he was that his beloved Selah stood in front of him the whole time. Also, the book includes some added scenes, which were highly interesting to read and worked as missing pieces of the puzzle. Like in the other books, my hatred toward Gabriel didn't change. He is the reason for Grace and Shane's suffering and it was torture to read in book 1+2 what he did to poor Grace. But it was pure relief to read how both fought him.

The book is filled with humor, love, anxiety, sorrow, hate, and passion. I laughed hard reading the dialogues of Shane's inner monologue, his and the boys, and between him and Lea -hilarious.

Oh, but Shane, if you make my best friend cry, I will tie your pretty little rock star ass up naked and let the homeless men in Central Park have their way with you.

I wasn't disappointed with the book at all; moreover, I was totally surprised how great it turned out to be. It made me fall in love with Shane's character even more. You all will be happy to read that Christine added a pretty amazing epilogue to it and I was in pure awe, bliss, and joy reading it. I LOVED IT and made a secret happy dance at home ;).

I can honestly say that Christine's Mad World is one of my top favorite angel series ever. It is unique and hooks you within the first pages. Thanks for such a great series!!
